Who runs a private camera registry in Merced County?

What we do not know

Merced Police

  • How many Level 1 and Level 2 participants are active?
  • How does the city reconcile the Level 2 live-feed description with the no-direct-access terms?
  • What rules govern activation, viewing, retention, export, sharing, and audit of Level 2 feeds?
  • Are exact private camera locations exempted, aggregated, or otherwise protected in public records?

What private camera registries are

A list, kept by a police department, of privately owned security cameras and where they are. Officers use it to ask owners for footage. Some registries also let an agency request footage through the camera vendor’s app.
