How to show up in Alameda County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Alameda County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Alameda County Board of Supervisors
Watch this oneOn 8 July 2025 this Board was asked to approve the Sheriff's AeroDome contract, procurement number 29033, not to exceed $600,000. What it decided is one of the two largest open questions in the county.
- When
- Tuesdays at 9:30 AM, though the Board does not sit every Tuesday.
- Where
- Supervisors' Chambers, County Administration Building, 1221 Oak Street, Fifth Floor, Room 512, Oakland, CA 94612. Agendas also name a teleconference location, which has been the Scott Haggerty Heritage House, 4501 Pleasanton Avenue, Pleasanton.
- Remote
- The Board allows the public to observe and take part remotely by teleconference, following the teleconferencing guidelines it publishes online. The live broadcast is separate, for watching only.
- Public comment
- Someone speaking in the room fills in a speaker slip at the front of the Chambers and gives it to the Clerk as soon as possible. Both in-person and remote speakers give their name for the record first. Comment on matters not on the agenda waits until the President calls for it. There is no fixed time limit: the agenda says time limits are at the President's discretion.
- Written comment
- Through the county's online public comment form, which asks for a name, email, meeting date and agenda item number. Comment submitted before 3:00 PM the day before the meeting is routed to the Board.

Timed items on the agenda are not heard before the time listed but may not be called at exactly that time either, so an item can run late. The county's own public comment page does not print a per-speaker limit, and neither does the agenda; a two-minute figure circulates in third-party guides but we could not confirm it against a county source, so it is not published here.

Berkeley City Council
Watch this oneOn 24 March 2026 this council took up item 26, four amendments to the city's Flock Safety contract. What it decided is the other large open question in Alameda County.
- When
- Generally two Tuesdays a month at 6:00 PM, with special meetings called as needed.
- Where
- Berkeley Unified School District Boardroom, 1231 Addison Street, Berkeley, CA 94702
- Remote
- Meetings are hybrid. The Zoom link is on the first page of each agenda, where the raise-hand icon queues a comment. By phone, call 1-669-900-9128 or 1-877-853-5257, enter the meeting ID from the agenda, then press star 9 to ask to speak and star 6 to unmute.
- Public comment
- How long a speaker gets depends on how many people want to speak. On consent and information calendar items it is up to two minutes and one turn each. On an action calendar item it is two minutes each if ten or fewer people want to speak and one minute each if more than ten. For comment on general topics it is two minutes each if five or fewer people want to speak; if more than five do, ten speakers are picked at random and each gets one minute.

- By email to council@berkeleyca.gov, or by post to the City Clerk Department, 2180 Milvia Street, Berkeley, CA 94704. To go into the agenda packet, comment has to arrive by 5:00 PM fifteen days before the meeting.

The council meets in the Berkeley Unified School District boardroom on Addison Street, not at 2180 Milvia Street, which is the City Clerk Department's address and the one search results return. Older agendas and meeting documents are in a separate records system, or can be requested from the Clerk.
