Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Kern County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

The county serves its current agenda from a separate application host that returns a 403 to both our pipeline and a browser, and its archive is on Granicus, which is closed to our tooling. The county's own board pages open in a browser and are the source used here. They do not publish a per-speaker time limit, a written comment address or a remote comment option, so all three are on the agenda for each meeting. The county also runs an email notification service for agendas and minutes.

Bakersfield City Council
Watch this oneBakersfield Police runs the county's largest plate reader deployment, reported as approved in 2021 and expanded in 2023. Neither council action has been read. In June 2026 the Vice Mayor asked for information on the Flock system to come to the Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods Committee, so that committee is where the next substantive discussion is expected.

The city's portal refuses our pipeline but opens in a browser. It carries the council's own committees on the same system, including the Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods Committee, which meets separately at lunchtime on a Friday and is the room the plate reader question was referred to.
