How to show up in Nevada County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Nevada County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Nevada County Board of Supervisors

- When
- Two Tuesdays a month at 9:00 AM. The county publishes a one-page meeting calendar for the year and asks readers to check the agenda for each meeting.
- Where
- Board of Supervisors' Chamber, Eric Rood Administrative Center, 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959
- Remote
- Meetings are carried live on Comcast channel 17 and Suddenlink channels 17 and 78, and streamed live and archived online. Comment can be made by phone during the meeting on 530-270-3474.
- Public comment
- Three minutes per person on an agenda item, taken when the Board reaches that item. The Board sets aside at least 15 minutes for comment on matters not on the agenda, allocated in the order requests arrive, and cannot act on what is raised there. Special meetings have no non-agenda comment period.
- Written comment
- Through the Board's eComment tool once the agenda is posted, by email to BOS.PublicComment@nevadacountyca.gov, or by letter to the Clerk of the Board, 950 Maidu Avenue, Suite 200, Nevada City, CA 95959. Written comment has to arrive by 4:00 PM the day before the meeting; the county says later comment may not reach the Board until after the meeting.

Agendas are generally released the Thursday before the meeting. The county keeps board documents in two places: the Agenda Center for agendas and minutes, and a separate InSite search tool for resolutions and other records.

Grass Valley City Council

- By voicemail on 530-274-4390 or by email to public@cityofgrassvalley.com. The city distributes comment to the council before the meeting if it arrives by 5:00 PM, and takes anything later during the item or at the end of the meeting.
The city moved from cityofgrassvalley.com to grassvalleyca.gov, and the old address redirects. Its published comment mailbox is still on the old domain. Meetings from 2009 to 2020 are in a separate Granicus archive at nevco.granicus.com. The city does not publish the Council Chambers address, a per-speaker time limit, or a remote comment option on either its council page or its meetings page, so those are unconfirmed here rather than filled in from a plausible guess.
