How to show up in Placer County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Placer County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Watch this oneThis Board adopted the Sheriff's military equipment policy in 2022 and took up the county's $238,600 Flock Safety plate reader agreement in 2023, an item whose memo describes an intent to install 42 cameras.
- When
- Generally the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 9:00 AM. The county says times and locations can vary and points readers to the meeting calendar.
- Where
- Placer County Administrative Center, 175 Fulweiler Avenue, Auburn, CA 95603
- Remote
- The meeting is streamed on YouTube and carried as a Zoom webinar at placer.ca.gov/boslive, where the raise-hand button queues a comment. By phone, call 877-853-5247 and press star 9 to comment. Closed captioning is available.
- Public comment
- Comment is opened on each agenda item, in the room or over Zoom. For the general public comment period the county asks speakers to hold to three minutes each, because the period itself is 15 minutes.
- Written comment
- Through the Clerk of the Board's public comment submission form, or by mail to the Clerk of the Board, 175 Fulweiler Avenue, Auburn, CA 95603. Written comment arriving less than two days before the meeting is handed to the Board during the hearing, with a copy available at the meeting only.

The county publishes the Clerk's email address through a script that hides it from our fetcher, so the comment form and the phone number are listed here instead. The county's Granicus archive, which holds the minutes, disallows our crawler in its robots file, so we read agendas and staff memos from the county's own document centre. Those agendas record what the Board was asked to approve, not how it voted; the minutes are the record of the vote.

Auburn City Council
Watch this oneNineteen consecutive speakers criticised the city's plate reader cameras at the August 2026 meeting, and the council asked staff to study the issue and arrange a town hall. The county's 2025-26 civil grand jury also directed this council to file a written response about plate reader data sharing between Auburn Police and the Sheriff.

- The second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 PM.
- Where
- City Council Chambers, City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603
- Remote
- Recent agendas carry a Zoom link for the meeting. The city does not say on its council page whether someone joining that way can comment, so the agenda for a given meeting is where to check.
- Public comment
- Comment on an agenda item runs three minutes. Someone who wants to speak on an item asks the Mayor to be heard when the Council reaches it. The city does not publish a separate procedure for comment on matters not on the agenda.
- Written comment
- The city says email to the City Clerk is the best way to get comment in before a meeting. The address is publiccomment@auburn.ca.gov and the subject line should begin "Public Comment for". No deadline is published.

Agendas and staff reports are available for inspection at City Hall 72 hours before a regular meeting. Anything handed to the Council after the packet goes out can be read in the City Clerk's Office, 1225 Lincoln Way, Room 8, during business hours. The city's video and agenda archive is hosted on Granicus at auburn.granicus.com.
