How to show up in Sonoma County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Sonoma County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Sonoma County Board of Supervisors
Watch this oneReporting describes a county-wide Flock Safety agreement funded through SONCATT, the regional auto theft task force, approved in 2023. We have not located the Board file for it. Whether an annual military equipment report for 2024 or 2025 has come before this Board is an open question.

- Regularly each Tuesday at 9:00 AM.
- Where
- Board of Supervisors Chambers, 575 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. The agenda prints Room 102A in its header and Room 100A in its instructions for attending in person. Room 100A is also where unposted materials can be inspected during business hours.
- Remote
- Most meetings are broadcast over Zoom with Spanish translation and closed captioning, and streamed through Legistar. Zoom is for watching and listening. The county says it cannot guarantee Zoom will be up for a whole meeting.
- Public comment
- Comment is made live and in person in the Board Chambers, or in writing. There is no fixed time limit; the Chair sets the available time based on the agenda and how many people want to speak. Commenters line up at the back of the Chambers when the Chair opens comment, then leave the queue or take a seat afterwards. There is an opportunity to comment on the consent calendar before it is voted on. Everyone entering the Chambers, and everyone commenting there, goes through security screening, so the county advises allowing extra time.

- By email to bos@sonomacounty.gov, in advance of the meeting. The county says attending in person or writing in are the two ways to guarantee a comment is received and considered.

The county moved from sonomacounty.ca.gov to sonomacounty.gov, and the old address redirects. Not all supporting material is posted; what is not can be read at 575 Administration Drive, Room 100A. Addendums to an agenda are posted by 5:00 PM on the Friday of the week before the meeting. The Board sits at the same time as the boards of several other county entities, so an item can arrive under any of those headings.

Petaluma Public Safety Advisory Committee
Watch this oneIn February 2026 this committee took up ending the city's Flock Safety contract for the third time. A motion to recommend termination failed on a 3-3 tie, and a motion to recommend exploring alternatives passed 4-2. Its recommendations go on to the City Council, which is where a contract decision is actually made.

- The city live streams committee and commission meetings from its website. Since March 2023 those meetings are in person only for anyone who wants to speak: the city says the public can watch the stream but has to submit comment in writing beforehand or attend in person to comment out loud. This is different from City Council meetings, which run in a hybrid format with live comment over Zoom.

The city does not publish this committee's meeting schedule, its meeting room, or a per-speaker time limit on its public meetings page, so those are unconfirmed here rather than guessed. Agenda packets, minutes and video for city meetings from 2015 onward are at the bottom of the city's meetings page; anything earlier has to be requested from the City Clerk.

Rohnert Park City Council
Watch this oneThis council was shown a Flock Safety presentation in March 2024 covering cameras funded through the county auto theft task force, and in January 2026 it voted 4-0 to cut how long the city keeps plate reader data from a year to 30 days, after residents pushed back.

- Meetings run as a Zoom webinar, ID 899 1755 2866, passcode 438222, with a dial-in on 1-669-900-6833. They are also carried on cable channel 27, on the city's YouTube channel, and streamed from Meeting Central once a meeting is in progress.

- Three minutes per appearance, subject to change, with a 30-minute total or whatever the presiding officer sets based on the number of speaker cards handed in.
- Written comment
- Through the city's public comment form at rpcity.ca.gov/PublicComment. The city asks for comment by 5:00 PM the day before the meeting.

Agenda reports and documents can be read at City Hall, 130 Avram Avenue, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The city's video and agenda archive is hosted on Granicus at rpcity.granicus.com.
