Blackfoot
Bingham County’s seat and its largest city, about 12,000 people on the Snake River between Pocatello and Idaho Falls. The Blackfoot Police Department is based here, and so are the county courthouse, the county jail and the Board of County Commissioners, which meets in Room 204 at 501 North Maple Street.
The city and the county are entangled in more than geography. The police department’s body camera and in-car footage sits on a server the city shares with the county’s law enforcement, and the two moved to the same phone extraction software together.
The City Council publishes its agendas and minutes back to 2015, along with those of its Planning and Zoning Commission, its Urban Renewal Agency and its Transportation Commission. The Transportation Commission’s minutes are where the only license plate reader in this county’s published record appears.
