How to show up in Bingham County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Bingham County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Watch this oneEvery county camera decision documented here was made by this Board, and most of them arrived as a form called a Prior Approval for Major Purchase rather than as a debate. In 2026 it approved a single contract that puts the county's cameras and the rest of its equipment on one annual program at $84,002.26 a year, and a 160 terabyte video recorder for the jail at $81,244.00, in four sentences of minutes between them.

- The Board sits on various days through the week rather than on a fixed calendar. Its own meeting request form says meeting dates are coordinated with the Commission Clerk, and that under Idaho Code section 74-204(1) it cannot meet without at least 48 hours' notice and posting on the Commission Agenda. Read the current agenda for the week.

- Public comment
- The Board's published route for a resident is its Request for Meeting with Bingham County Commissioners form, which asks for the topic, how much time you need, whether you want a decision, the authority you are asking under, and your supporting documents. The Commission Clerk schedules the item. We could not find a published general public comment period on the Board's agendas.

The county publishes one PDF of minutes per month, back to January 2022, and only the current agenda and the current agenda packet. There is no agenda archive, so a resident who wants last month's agenda has to wait for the minutes. Every one of those files is a page scan with no searchable text. The county's numbered resolutions are published separately, and some of the links on the resolutions page point at addresses that do not resolve.

Blackfoot City Council
Watch this oneThe Blackfoot Police Department's equipment is funded here. The Council heard in March 2022 that every officer and every patrol car already records and that the storage was the problem, and its 2024 year in review recorded the move to phone extraction software alongside the Sheriff's Office. If the department's three license plate readers are ever bought, this is the body that pays for them.

- The city's own page says meetings are at 7:00 PM on the first Tuesday of every month. The agenda archive shows the Council also meets on other Tuesdays through the month, so read the agenda.
- Where
- City Hall Council Chambers, 157 North Broadway, Blackfoot, Idaho 83221.
- Remote
- The Council's agendas carry Zoom details and say the meeting is held in person, that citizens may view it on Zoom, and that a citizen who wishes to participate must appear in person. The agendas also say to check the city's Facebook page if the Zoom number does not work.

- In person at the meeting. We could not find a published time limit or sign-up procedure on the city's agendas.

The city's agenda portal carries City Council agendas and minutes back to 2015, with separate categories for Planning and Zoning, the Urban Renewal Agency, the Transportation Commission and general public meetings. Many of the older agenda entries are a one line placeholder saying no agenda is available for that meeting, and a few are legacy Word files rather than PDFs.

Shelley City Council
The Shelley Police Department's equipment is funded here, and in this city it reaches the Council as a budget line or an action item with the chief present. The $38,000 of police equipment including cameras in the 2024 budget and the Axon Taser replacement of April 2026 both came this way.

- The second and fourth Wednesday of the month. The agendas call the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

- None published. The Council's minutes record residents watching a live stream of an earlier meeting, so one exists at least some of the time, but the city publishes no standing link to it.
