Caldwell

This page collects what we have documented for the City of Caldwell, the Canyon County seat and the seat of the county’s Board of County Commissioners. The Caldwell Police Department is the city’s own law enforcement agency, and it publishes its automated license plate reader policy and its drone policy on the city website.

  • Active Caldwell Police Updated

In January 2026 the Caldwell Police Department launched what the city called the first drone as first responder program in Idaho: three Skydio X10 drones with thermal cameras, in docks placed so that most 911 calls can be reached in under two minutes.

  • Active Caldwell Police Updated

The Caldwell Police Department runs Flock Safety plate readers and is the one agency in Canyon County that publishes its policy for them. The policy says reasonable suspicion or probable cause is not required to use the system, and that the data is not open to public review.

  • Canyon County, Caldwell and Nampa share the cost of Cellebrite software that unlocks and extracts seized phones, and a server to archive what comes off them. The Sheriff's Office pitched it in 2023 as a way to build a database of phones the agencies could cross-check.
