Orofino
Clearwater County’s seat, a city of about three thousand people where the Orofino Creek meets the Clearwater River, and the place where everything this project has documented in the county stands. The Orofino Police Department is based here. So is the county courthouse, on Michigan Avenue, and so are all five of the license plate readers volunteers have mapped in Clearwater County, although those belong to the county rather than to the city.
The City Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at six in the evening, in the Council chambers on 1st Street.

The Orofino city council decides for city departments like the police, at public meetings any resident can attend and speak at. Other agencies based in Orofino, such as a school district, answer to their own elected boards. We have confirmed where these bodies meet and how public comment works at each one.
