The item
The Board's agenda for a 10:00 a.m. public hearing carries two consecutive resolutions for the courthouse project under the same Sourcewell contract. The first authorizes network switches, stacking cables and transceiver modules. The second authorizes the purchase of cameras for the new courthouse network. Neither carries a price on the agenda. In the Nez Perce County Board of County Commissioners’ published agendas from 2019 to September 2026, one item authorizes the purchase of cameras.
It is on the agenda for 6 May 2025, and it reads in full: “Consideration and Decision of Resolution No. 2025-05-076. A Resolution authorizing the purchase of cameras for the new courthouse network pursuant to Sourcewell Contract Number 121923-CDWG Tech Catalog for the Nez Perce County Courthouse Project, and further providing for an effective date.”[2]
The item before it, under the same contract and for the same project, authorizes network switches, stacking cables and transceiver modules. Read together they are the network and the cameras that will sit on it, bought through a cooperative purchasing contract rather than by competitive bid.
Why that is all there is
Everything a resident might want to ask next runs into the same wall. What did it cost? The agenda does not say and the resolution is not published: the county’s resolution folder begins on 27 April 2026, almost a year later. How many cameras, covering what? Not stated. Did the Board adopt it, and did anyone discuss it? The county publishes no minutes for any meeting before 15 April 2026.[1]
The county’s agendas are not thin documents. Each carries the full title and text of every resolution to be considered, which is how this item can be quoted at all. What an agenda cannot show is the vote.
