  This board awarded a five-year, two million dollar body camera contract in January 2024 after three of the four bids were ruled non-responsive, leaving one price on the table. It adopts the Public Safety Sales and Use Tax plans that pay for the cameras and their cloud storage, town by town, every year. Those annual plans are the recurring, predictable moment when this county's surveillance spending is on an agenda, and public comment of up to three minutes is taken on individual action items rather than only at the start.

The board sits jointly as the Board of Highway Commissioners, the Licensing and Liquor Board, the Board of Health, the governing body of the unincorporated towns of Pahrump, Beatty, Gabbs and Manhattan, and the trustees of the Pahrump Pool District, so all of that business appears on one agenda.

Because the county is the third largest in the United States by area, the meeting is also held at staffed teleconference locations the agendas list as open to the public: Board of Commissioners Chambers, 101 Radar Road, Tonopah, and the Beatty Justice Court, 426 C Avenue South, Beatty.   The meeting is viewable on the county's Granicus page, which the agendas warn runs about 40 seconds behind the call. Comment by phone is supported: you raise your hand and hear "the organizer sees your raised hand", then "you may now speak", and you must identify yourself by saying and spelling your first and last name.

  Public comment

  Three minutes per person. There are general public comment periods that the Chair opens by announcement, and separately "public comment of up to three minutes per person may be heard during individual action items", which means you can speak to a specific purchase before the vote rather than only in general. Agendas are posted under NRS 241.020 at physical locations across the county as well as online, including post offices and town halls in Tonopah, Beatty and Gabbs.

  Agendas and minutes are on the county's CivicPlus AgendaCenter, which serves documents plainly and refuses nothing. Of the 382 documents we fetched from the Commissioners, Local Emergency Planning Committee and 9-1-1 Advisory Committee categories since January 2023, 326 were readable and 56 are scans with no text layer, several of them long minutes.
