How to show up in Grant County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Grant County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Grant County Court
Watch this oneThe county's camera system was built here, one grant acceptance and one contract amendment at a time. Watching for the words "grant amendment" is more useful in this county than watching for the word "camera", because that is the form the expansions took.
- When
- Most often the first and third Wednesday of the month, starting at 9:00 AM. Other days appear regularly, so the portal is the reliable answer for a given week.
- Where
- Grant County Courthouse, 201 S. Humbolt Street, Canyon City, Oregon. Some sessions and budget meetings are held elsewhere, including at 835 S Canyon Boulevard in John Day and at the airport conference room, and the agenda says which.
- Remote
- Some meetings carry a Microsoft Teams option. It is not on every agenda in the record we read, so check the agenda for the meeting you want rather than assuming a remote option exists.
- Public comment
- The county's own notice says public comment "will be taken during the meeting at the judge's discretion as time allows", which is a narrower guarantee than a fixed comment period. There is no written time limit or sign-up rule in the meetings we read.
- Written comment
- — not confirmed
We read two of the portal's fifteen categories, the County Court and the Budget Committee, 2023 onward. A caution for anyone searching for this county online rather than for a reader here: grantcounty.org is a Wisconsin economic development body, not this county, and answers to the same searches.

What this list does not cover yet
These are the bodies we have confirmed, not every body in the county. Grant County has other commissions and committees, and other school and special districts, that we have not documented yet. Several of the county's own committees publish on the same county portal linked above.

Read what is already on the record for Grant County first. A resident who has read the contract changes the room.
