How to show up in Hood River County
Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Hood River County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Hood River City Council
Watch this oneThe city's security camera policy arrived here as item 4 on a consent agenda and passed seven to nothing with no discussion. That is the normal route in this city, not an unusual one, so the consent agenda is the part of the packet to read first. Camera and lease terms also arrive inside longer documents: the clause requiring a tenant to hand the city its footage is Article 11.2 of a ground lease, several hundred pages into a packet.

- The second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m., per the city's own City Council page.
- Where
- City Hall Council Chambers, 211 Second Street, Hood River, Oregon 97031.
- Remote
- Meetings can be attended in person or online, and the city publishes a live broadcast and stream. The Zoom link is issued to people who pre-register to speak rather than published as a standing address, so check the posted agenda for that meeting.
- Public comment
- "Business from the Audience" is an early standing item, with a three minute limit per person. Three routes, all named on every agenda: sign up in person on the sheet the City Recorder puts out when you arrive; email written comments to the City Recorder by noon the day of the meeting, which are distributed to Council in one packet and added to the record; or email the City Recorder by noon with your name and topic to speak by Zoom, in which case you are sent a link and promoted to speak for three minutes. At the Mayor's discretion comment may also be taken before a specific agenda topic.
- Written comment
- Email the City Recorder by 12 noon on the day of the meeting. Written comments are compiled into one packet for Council by 3 p.m. and added to the record.

Read the packets, not the minutes. The council's minutes are posted as scanned images with no text layer, so they cannot be searched; the packet for a later meeting carries the previous meeting's minutes as ordinary text, which is where the votes on this site were read. The meetings page itself renders its calendar in JavaScript and the city's sitemap has not been updated since 2019, so neither is a reliable index of what exists.
