Surveillance is approved by people who hold public meetings any resident can attend. This page lists the bodies that do that in Jefferson County, what we have confirmed about attending each one, and where each publishes its agendas.
We do not publish meeting dates. A schedule we cannot check often enough would eventually send someone to the wrong place on the wrong night. Each body below links to wherever it publishes its own agendas and schedule, and that is the copy to trust.

Madras City Council
Watch this oneTwo reasons to watch this council rather than the county's. It is the body that took automated traffic enforcement all the way to a costed proposal and turned it down, so it is where the argument gets made in this county. And its Joint City Council and County Commissioners meetings, published in the same portal, are the only record of the Jefferson County Board that anyone can read without a browser fight.

- Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers, per the agendas. Joint meetings with the County Commissioners are noticed separately and published in the same portal under their own category.
- Where
- City Council Chambers, 125 SW "E" Street, Madras, Oregon 97741.
- Remote
- Every agenda publishes a Zoom link with its passcode and two teleconference numbers, one for mobile and one for a land line, with the meeting and participant IDs. The city also posts recordings of council meetings in its Agenda and Minutes Center for later viewing.
- Public comment
- The city keeps a Public Participation page covering public comment, requesting to present to the council, proclamations and serving on boards. Check the posted agenda for that meeting, which carries the current procedure.
- Written comment
- Accommodations, including interpreters, assistive listening devices and materials in alternate formats, are available at no cost on 48 hours' notice from the City Recorder.

The portal is open to us and the packets are full text, which is why this city carries what we know about Jefferson County. Two things are worth knowing. Council minutes are frequently published inside a later meeting's packet rather than on their own, so a set of minutes may be eight meetings deep in a single PDF. And the city states plainly on each agenda that "Meetings may be canceled without notice," so the portal is the only reliable answer to whether a meeting is happening.
