What we do not know
Yakima County Sheriff
- The camera locations schedule, which RCW 10.130's annual public reports will require from 1 December 2027.
- How much of the reported 300-camera county-wide expansion has been contracted, and by which agencies — the board record we read ends before any such agreements.
- The registration and certification filed with the Attorney General before operating.
- Whether the November 2024 sole-source notice produced a third agreement, and the network's current camera count.
What license plate readers are
An automated license plate reader photographs every passing vehicle and records the plate, the time and the place. It does not watch suspects. It logs everyone, and the record is usually kept on a vendor’s servers.
