What's in use here
Mammoth Lakes Police lists one DJI Matrice 30T. Its 2025 annual report says the aircraft was not deployed during the reporting year because of staffing shortages.
Mono County's adopted fiscal year 2023-24 budget included one $33,600 Sheriff capital item for a drone and evidence-locker upgrade. A separate 2022 draft inventory listed one DJI aircraft. The records do not establish purchase, deployment, or a current fleet.
The Sheriff's published policy states that the office uses automated license plate readers. It sets a minimum one-year retention rule but does not identify the vendor, device count, or locations.
Mammoth Lakes authorized eight Flock cameras in July 2024 and now reports ten current cameras. A school, college, education, and hospital partnership adds ALPR and gunshot-detection equipment.
The Board approved a fiscal year 2023-24 budget adjustment for a federal body-camera grant. The minutes state a $72,000 total grant but do not establish a vendor, device count, purchase, deployment, policy, or retention period.
Mammoth Lakes adopted a non-police camera policy in 2026. It lists one existing facility camera and 22 proposed cameras, requires signage, prohibits audio, and sets 365-day retention.
