Lyon County Sheriff
- Whether the cameras are still operating. The two-year contract ran out around November 2025 and the board's record shows no renewal, no expiry and no decision to stop.
- How many cameras there are and where they stand, neither of which the approval record states.
- Whether the one-year retention stated to the board is the configured retention, and whether any audit of searches has ever been run.
- Which agencies outside Lyon County can query this data. The stated rationale was that neighbouring counties run the same system, which describes a regional network whose membership is not on the record.
Lyon County Sheriff
- Whether the platform has been deployed, and where it operates.
- Its make and model, which no document we read states.
- How long plate reads are kept, who can query them, whether there is an audit log, and whether the data reaches any other agency, fusion centre or commercial network.
- Whether a written usage policy exists. This is a separate system from the county's Flock contract, so a Flock policy would not cover it.
What license plate readers are
An automated license plate reader photographs every passing vehicle and records the plate, the time and the place. It does not watch suspects. It logs everyone, and the record is usually kept on a vendor’s servers.
