Bellevue Marshal
- How long is the data kept? No retention period appears in the resolution, the request or the policy printed in the packet.
- Which Idaho agencies have access? The Marshal told the Council sharing is limited to Idaho law enforcement. No list appears in any document we read.
- What period do the plate read and search counters cover? The report prints two numbers and no period.
- Was the contract canceled, when, and by what vote? A resident raised it as settled in August 2026 and we could not find the decision.
- What do the monthly audits say? None is published.
Blaine County Sheriff
- How many cameras does the Sheriff's Office operate, and where are they? One location is named in a press release. No county record we read gives a count.
- What does the system cost and who approved it? No contract, invoice, grant acceptance or budget line naming the vendor appears in the Board of County Commissioners' published record from January 2022 to September 2026.
- Does the office have a written plate reader policy? We could not find one published.
- What do the semiannual audits Idaho Code 49-1432 requires say? We found none published by this office.
- Does the mutual assistance compact carry plate reader access? The Board's minutes of the item do not mention plate readers; the Sheriff's press release two days later does. The compact document is not in the packet we read.
- What did the Idaho Transportation Department install, with which agency, and under what agreement?
Hailey Police
- Which agencies can search Hailey's cameras, and whose cameras can Hailey search? No list appears in any document we read, and the chief told the Council the department can share with any state at any time.
- Does the department have a written plate reader policy? We could not find one published on the city website.
- Where is the audit the chief said he would publish? We could not find it on the city website.
- What is in the executed agreement? The Council adopted a master services agreement, and the packet prints the vendor's standard terms rather than a signed order form with a camera count.
What license plate readers are
An automated license plate reader photographs every passing vehicle and records the plate, the time and the place. It does not watch suspects. It logs everyone, and the record is usually kept on a vendor’s servers.
